Iqbal’s death anniversary was observed at Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar. On this occasion, a seminar was arranged which was addressed by Mr. Aftab Khan, Assistant Professor Government College of Management Sciences Peshawar and Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam. While reading out his paper Mr. Aftab Khan said that Allama Iqbal was fervent supporter of united India in the beginning but later on he switched over to separate Muslim nationalism. The reason for that transformation was the negative attitude of Indian National Congress. Iqbal had cordial relations with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and it was him who persuaded Jinnah to come back to India in 1934. Iqbal contributed a lot to the freedom movement in the capacity of political leader and member of Punjab Legislative assembly. However, his biggest contribution was the Allahabad Address of 1930. That address put the Indian Muslims on right tract of separate Muslim nationalism. Speaking on the occasion Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam paid rich tributes to Iqbal. He said that Allama’s personality had many dimensions. He was philosopher, educationist, poet and politician. In all those capacities, he guided the Ummah in general and Indian Muslims in particular. He said the young generation needs to adhere to the teachings of Iqbal so that Pakistan could be made a prosperous and stable country.
