2nd Meeting of National Committee on Allama Iqbal’s 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations Held

The second meeting of the National Committee on Allama Iqbal’s 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations was held today under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary Information & Broadcasting, senior officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ministry of Federal Education, and the National Heritage & Culture Division, along with representatives of Iqbal Academy Pakistan. The Chairman CDA, Dr. Arif Khan (UK), Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Soomro (Karachi), and Dr. Fakhar-ul-Islam joined the session online.
The Committee approved the construction of an Allama Iqbal Memorial Library in Islamabad, with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) tasked to allocate suitable land for the project. It was further decided that the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting will invite RFPs from the private sector for the production of a high-quality international TV serial on Allama Iqbal.
The Committee reviewed proposals submitted by Pakistani missions abroad and the Ministry of Federal Education regarding celebration activities for Iqbal Year. The Iqbal Academy Pakistan was entrusted with the responsibility to prepare a comprehensive program of activities aligned with approved themes, along with a weekly calendar of tasks leading up to 9th November 2026, ensuring timely execution.
To ensure effective follow-up, the Committee agreed to constitute a working group comprising representatives from the Iqbal Academy Pakistan, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and the Ministry of Planning. The group will monitor the progress of the planned activities on a fortnightly basis.
Prof. Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the 150th birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal presents a historic opportunity to highlight Iqbal’s universal message at both national and international levels, and to engage youth, scholars and global audiences with renewed vigor.
